CHAVEZ DEFEATED?!

The link above is an article I found about President Hugo Chavez’s referendum to give him the power to run for office unlimited times. As you will learn from reading the article, the referendum was turned down my the people of Venezuela in an open and fair democratic election runned by Chavez’s socialist government. My question is: what to think of this? The results of the election are without a doubt a surprise to the global political atmosphere, since Chavez has always been backed up by the majority of the population, especially the poor people. Now that for the first time President Chavez was actually turned down by his own people the future of the leftist movement around South America could be held in uncertainty. True Socialists and well informed leftists should be happy about this, ironic? No, not at all, the defeat actually showed that fair democratic elections can be held in a Socialist country. If Chavez’s referendum was accepted by the people, Venezuela would be in the road to a dictarorship, which in return would make Socialism look bad; despite Chavez’s efficient work to help his country and actions to battle imperialism, he should not have the right to alter the constitution just for his own benefits.

TRUE SOCIALISM……NEEDS TO BE HEARD.
